Cure Addiction Now (CAN) is a nonprofit on a mission to revolutionize how substance use disorders (SUD) are treated—addressing both the physical and emotional aspects of recovery. The truth is undeniable: one cannot be healed without the other.

I co-founded CAN with my son, Jason Davis, whose passion for helping others continues to guide us even after his tragic passing in February 2020. Together with Jason’s brother Brandon and sisters Isabella and Mariella Rickel, our family is carrying forward his vision—to fund groundbreaking research that not only helps people detox but also makes lasting recovery possible.

To achieve this, we have brought together an extraordinary “dream team” of leading scientists and doctors from institutions including Mount Sinai, Harvard, Yale, UCLA, Scripps, University of Washington, UC Davis, University of Kentucky, Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland, and University of Texas Medical Branch. Their collaboration is redefining what’s possible, creating momentum unlike anything the field has seen before.

At CAN, our philosophy is simple: unite the brightest minds, foster collaboration, and eliminate wasted duplication of research. This innovative model has already proven successful through the breakthroughs of Race to Erase MS, the organization I founded in 1994 after my own MS diagnosis.

Now, we are determined to transform the way the world understands and treats substance use disorder. Together, we can break the cycle, end the revolving door of relapse, and bring real hope for lasting recovery. People struggling with SUD deserve better tools and accessible options to achieve the goal of lasting sobriety. We are dedicated to find the true cause of substance use disorder and our goal is to find a cure and save lives.
